Reference purity assignment and certificates

Understanding the question
An assigned reference value needs a documented basis and appropriate use. A label on a vial does not fully explain how its value supports a measurement. The relevant certificate and conditions should remain available.
A worked example
In a teaching exercise, a standard is treated as exactly 100% because that makes a worksheet simpler. The reviewer checks the assigned value and reporting basis rather than rounding away the difference. Simplifying an input can change the meaning of the output.

Use the documented reference information and procedure. Do not create a correction from a product name, ignore relevant uncertainty or claim that any material called a standard is suitable for every analytical question.
